Sam Murray

Master’s Level Counseling Intern

therapeutic approach

I believe therapy is a collaborative process that can help us better understand ourselves, navigate life's challenges, and create meaningful change. My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based framework that explores the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we will identify patterns that may be contributing to distress and develop practical tools to help you respond to challenges in healthier and more effective ways.

While CBT serves as the foundation of my work, I recognize that every person brings a unique story, set of experiences, and goals into the therapy room. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore what is most important to you. My goal is to tailor the therapeutic process to your individual needs, adapting interventions and approaches to best support your growth and healing.

As we work together, we will build on your strengths, increase self-awareness, and develop skills that foster resilience, emotional well-being, and lasting change. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, or other life challenges, I hope to provide a space where you feel supported in moving toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.

About Sam

As a military child, I had the opportunity to live and travel in many different places throughout my life. I was born in Alaska and consider both Utah and Japan to be home. Growing up across different cultures and communities shaped my perspective and helped me develop an appreciation for the unique experiences and stories that each person carries.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active and spending time with the people who matter most to me. As a former collegiate athlete, I still enjoy playing both indoor and outdoor soccer whenever I can. I also enjoy paddle boarding, going for walks, relaxing by the pool, playing volleyball with friends, and hosting gatherings that bring people together.
